The Gloucester Maritime Heritage Center is a little slice of living history on the waterfront. A working marine railway, it offers visitors the chance to view traditional wooden vessels get repaired and hauled, and also features boats that represent the area's rich fishing history. Other attractions at the center include an interactive virtual marine sanctuary, a small outdoor aquarium and other educational exhibits and programs. It lies along the downtown Inner Harbor waterfront, where a pier allows scenic views of the bay and passing ships.
Open Jun - Aug: daily, 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; Sep - May: Sat. - Sun., 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
